4300 miles looking for root beer

My wife and I recently went on a 4300 mile road trip.  Of course she went to visit family members that she had not seen in a long time.  I went looking for root beer and collectibles. We both had fun.  We started in Colorado and went to Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma one more time, and finally back to Colorado.

Here is an overview of what I found followed by some individual pictures.  I found a total of 25 root beers that were either new to me, or had a significantly different label. I have been having a blast drinking new root beers since our return.

Very Old Bottles

I have come across several very old root beer bottles lately.  Some are because of this blog and how easy it is now being found. Some are a result of searching many, many antique stores and fleamarkets.  Here is a shot with all of them plus a few more pictures showing them in smaller groups.

These 3 I got from a guy that found my blog.  The center one is dated 1876. I am not sure how old the others are but likely prior to 1900.

These are all Hires. Some of them only have Hires embossed on the bottom of the bottle.

I friends called me the other day and told me about an Old Dutch Root Beer Thermometer at one ofthe antique stores in Lafayette, CO.  I went to see it and picked it up.  It was priced quite affordable.

And lastly here is an updated picture from the doorway of my root beer room.

Keep those emails coming.

Finds from New Mexico and Arizona

My wife and I recently went on a trip to Albuquerque and Phoenix.  I was able to find a lot of root beer and related items.  Here they are:

The Ma's was found in Albuquerque. I love the bottle topper.  Paid $35.00 for the six packa nd the topper.

I found several Barq's bottles I did not previous have.  I especially like the quart size.

Found this Hires bottle in one of the two Brass Armadillo Antique malls.

This Hires bottle I actually bought on eBay.

Got both of these candies in Old Town Albuquerque.

This is a glass sticker.  I paid $2.95 for it at one fleamarket. I then later say to of them for $39.95 each at another fleamarket.

I also found several root beers to drink that I had not previously tried.
